Did you know that each year United States citizens toss enough paper and plastic cups and utensils to cover the equator 300 times? This shocking statistic tells us that, while our country is seeing an increase in recycling programs and initiatives, it’s still not enough. November is Recycling Awareness Month – can you spare a moment to help raise awareness for this important cause?
Yesterday was America Recycles Day (ARD), and apparently to Environmental Protection magazine, it marked the perfect day to begin recycling. This year’s event marked the 14th annual ARD, and is supported by Keep America Beautiful. This year’s ARD celebration can be best explained by its theme: “I Recycle.”

Why is recycling important? According to Matthew M. McKenna, CEO and president of Keep America Beautiful, Inc., “Recycling not only protects the environment, it strengthens the community.” It can save towns and cities money, seriously reduce energy costs, and cut back on our dependence on natural resources.

You can get involved by distributing promotional recycling awareness products; these items will help encourage recipients to maintain an effective recycling regimen. They can also be handed out in conjunction with recycling awareness events at schools, offices, and more.
How will you help America cut back on its waste production?
