Think Ahead: Music in our Schools Month

It was 15 years ago when VH1 announced its “Music First” headline with the founding of the “Save The Music Foundation.” This was a not-for-profit created by the music channel giant to donate instruments to schools that had cut music programs as a result of budgeting issues. These years later, the program continues to have a strong presence.

With a similar philosophy, we celebrate March as Music in our Schools Month. Schools are regularly cutting arts programs in the hopes to budget money for other purposes. Student grades dwindle without the arts and that is just one of the many reasons why this awareness month is very important.

If you want to celebrate the awareness month, do so with some promotional products. Our sales team can help.

Think Ahead: National Umbrella Month

How many times have you ducked awning-to-awning to avoid the rain? How many dollars have you spent just to buy a poncho on the streets? How often have you ruined the day’s newspaper just to keep yourself dry?

National Umbrella Month’s objective is simple: to prepare for the “April Showers” and “May Flowers” with an umbrella on-hand. Be sure to have one everywhere – your office, your home, even in your car. Preparing for the rain in the same way we prepare for the snow is probably the best way to head into National Umbrella Month.

If you’re taking inventory of your umbrellas and realize you could use another or want to help out your company by purchasing a large quantity, consider purchasing one of the thousands of custom imprinted umbrellas we have in stock. You can include your logo and almost all of them will be delivered sometime before National Umbrella Month.

Until then, stay dry!

National Eating Disorders Awareness Week: ‘Everybody Knows Somebody’

Were you aware that 10 million women and 1 million men in the United States are currently battling serious eating disorders?  And because so many people are secretive about their eating disorders, there may be even more cases that are not even reported.  As the media continue to push unrealistic standards of beauty, these numbers will only increase.

While we may not have control over what the media tells us is beautiful, we can help decrease the prevalence of eating disorders by spreading awareness.  This year, National Eating Disorders Awareness Week takes place February 26 – March 3, 2012.  The theme chosen for 2012 is “Everybody Knows Somebody” because, each year, awareness regarding eating disorders continues to grow.  According to the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), in 2011, people from all 50 states and 29 foreign countries participated in National Eating Disorders Awareness Week.  This year, will you help NEDA continue to spread the word?

There are so many different ways to pitch in — from Liking the NEDA’s Facebook Page to organizing your own Eating Disorders Walk — so it’s easy to get involved.  And, if you need help gaining support, there are even National Eating Disorder Awareness Week giveaways that you can distribute to members of your community.
